High Purity Silicon Carbide

High purity silicon carbide is an advanced ceramic material composed of silicon and carbon with excellent physical, chemical and electrical properties. Its purity usually reaches more than 99.9995% with very low impurity content. Because of its high purity, it is widely used in semiconductors, power electronics, aerospace and other fields. High purity silicon carbide is usually prepared by chemical vapour deposition or physical vapour phase transport. These methods are capable of preparing high-purity, structurally dense silicon carbide materials under high-temperature environments by precisely controlling the reaction conditions.

• High hardness: High-purity silicon carbide has a Mohs hardness of 9.5-9.7 GPa, second only to diamond, allowing it to maintain excellent performance in high wear environments.
• High strength: High-purity silicon carbide has a flexural strength of 600-800 MPa, which maintains a high level of strength even at high temperatures.
• Low density: It has a density of approximately 3.2 g/cm³. This property allows silicon carbide ceramics to fulfil mechanical strength requirements while keeping weight as low as possible.
• Good corrosion resistance: This material has good corrosion resistance to most acids, alkalis and molten salts, making it particularly suitable for chemically aggressive environments.
• Excellent thermal stability: This material maintains stable mechanical and chemical properties at temperatures up to 1400°C.
