HC Ferro Manganese
Products Description
HC ferro manganese is an iron alloy with high manganese and carbon content. Its primary function is to supply manganese to steel smelting while also serving as a deoxidizer and desulfurizer.
- Manganese (Mn) content: Typically ranges between 75%-80%. Manganese is its most crucial active component, directly determining the alloy's value and performance.
- Carbon (C) content: Generally 7%-8%. This is the key distinction from medium-carbon and low-carbon ferromanganese. Its high-carbon nature makes it more suitable for steelmaking scenarios with less stringent carbon content requirements.
- Other impurities: Contains trace amounts of silicon (Si), phosphorus (P), and sulfur (S). Phosphorus and sulfur are harmful elements whose content must be strictly controlled within industry standards to prevent adverse effects on steel quality.

Product Applications
Steel Industry
Manganese Additives: Adding high-carbon ferro-manganese during steelmaking precisely supplements manganese in molten steel, enhancing the strength, hardness, and wear resistance of steel while improving toughness and impact resistance. It is widely used in the production of structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, wear-resistant steel, and more.
Molten Steel Deoxidizer: Manganese rapidly reacts with oxygen in molten steel to form low-melting-point, buoyant manganese oxide (MnO). These products are expelled with the slag, effectively removing excess oxygen from the steel. This step reduces defects such as porosity and cracks in the steel.
Molten Steel Desulfurizer: Manganese also binds with harmful sulfur in molten steel, forming manganese sulfide (MnS) that is similarly separated via slag. Desulfurization prevents hot brittleness in steel at high temperatures, ensuring stability during processing like welding and forging.
Casting Industry
Adjusting Cast Iron Composition: Supplementing manganese improves the microstructure of cast iron, refining grain size and reducing brittle hardening. This enhances the toughness and strength of cast iron components, making them more suitable for pressure-bearing parts like machine tool bases, pipes, and valves.
Improving Casting Performance: Adding high-carbon manganese iron lowers the melting point of cast iron, enhances molten iron fluidity, facilitates mold filling, and increases casting yield rates.
