  1. Silicon manganese alloy is an important raw material in steel production. It is not only used as an intermediate material for deoxidisers and alloying agents but also a key raw material for the production of low-carbon manganese iron.
  2. During the steel making process, silicon-manganese alloy reacts with oxygen in the molten steel to form low-melting-point oxides. These oxides float to the surface and are removed, significantly reducing the oxygen content in the steel and improving its purity. Silicon-manganese alloy is a composite deoxidiser with higher deoxidation efficiency and minimal impact on steel properties.
  3. Adding silicon-manganese alloy during steelmaking can adjust the chemical composition of the steel. Silicon enhances strength and hardness, while manganese improves toughness, heat resistance, and weldability.
  4. Silicon manganese alloy is a key raw material for producing medium- and low-carbon manganese iron and metallic manganese, which are produced by reducing oxides in manganese ore into metal using the carbon thermal reduction method.
  5. Silicon-manganese alloy can also be used as a reducing agent in chemical reactions, added to oxidation furnaces, electric furnaces, and molten steel. It can also be used to purify metallurgical raw materials and remove impurities.
