Products Description
Ferro silicon grain is mainly composed of silicon and iron, and also contains a small amount of manganese, chromium, phosphorus, sulfur and other impurity elements. Its appearance is generally silver grey with metallic luster. The shape of the particles is more regular, mostly lumpy or granular, and the particle size can be adjusted according to different application requirements, and the common particle size ranges are 0 - 10mm, 10 - 20mm, 20 - 50mm and so on. Ferro silicon particles have a stronger pregnant effect than ordinary ferrosilicon, which can more effectively promote the precipitation and spheroidisation of graphite, and improve the machinability of castings. In addition, it can reduce the generation of slag and improve the quality of castings.

How to choose the particle size of ferrosilicon particles
Large size ferrosilicon particles (e.g. 20 - 50mm):
- The reaction rate of large strength particles is relatively slow. Due to the large size of the particles, the contact area with the molten steel is relatively small and the dissolution and reaction of the ferrosilicon particles after addition to the molten steel is relatively slow. However, the reaction time in the molten steel is relatively long, and it is able to continuously provide silicon elements to the molten steel. This is conducive to controlling the composition and temperature of the molten steel, and is particularly suitable for deep deoxidation and alloying of molten steel in the steelmaking process of large converters or electric furnaces.
- Large ferrosilicon particles reduce spattering when added to the molten steel. Due to its large mass, the falling speed is faster, which reduces the spattering phenomenon that may occur due to too small particles, and improves the safety and stability of the steelmaking process.
Small size ferrosilicon particles (e.g. 0 - 10mm):
- Small size ferrosilicon particles have a relatively fast reaction rate. It has a large specific surface area, a large contact area with the molten steel, and can quickly dissolve and react with the oxygen in the molten steel to deoxidise and alloy. Therefore, in some of the higher reaction speed requirements of the steelmaking process, the need to quickly adjust the composition of the molten steel, you can use small particle size ferrosilicon particles.
- Small particle size ferrosilicon particles can be more evenly distributed in the steel, so that the composition of the steel is more uniform and consistent, which is conducive to improving the quality and stability of steel. For some of the strict requirements of the composition of special steel, small particle size ferrosilicon particles are more appropriate, such as stainless steel, alloy steel, etc..
