FeSi 75
Commonly used grades: FeSi75, FeSi72
Uses: Casting industry, steel smelting
Products Description
Silicon and oxygen easily combine to form silicon dioxide. Therefore, ferrosilicon is often used as a deoxidizer in steelmaking. At the same time, since a large amount of heat is released when SIO2 is generated, it is conducive to raising the temperature of molten steel while deoxidizing. Ferrosilicon is widely used in low-alloy structural steel, alloy steel, spring steel, bearing steel, and heat-resistant steel. In addition, ferrosilicon is commonly used as a reducing agent in ferroalloy production and the chemical industry. It contains 95% to 99% silicon. Pure silicon is commonly used to manufacture monocrystalline silicon or to prepare non-ferrous metal alloys.
FeSi 75 is a common grade of ferrosilicon alloy, in which "75" indicates that the mass fraction of silicon in the alloy is about 75%, and the remaining main component is iron, which may also contain a small amount of impurities such as carbon, aluminum, phosphorus, sulfur, etc.
DeDao Company is a professional ferrosilicon manufacturer. We strictly control the impurity content during production to ensure that we provide you with qualified products. Please contact us for more product information and prices.

FeSi 75 has different applications depending on its particle size.
Affecting reaction speed and efficiency
In the steel deoxidation process, FeSi 75 acts as a deoxidizer and must react quickly with the oxygen in the molten steel.
- If the particle size of ferrosilicon 75 is fine, it will have a larger contact area with the molten steel, dissolve faster, participate in the deoxidation reaction, reduce the reaction time, and improve the deoxidation efficiency.
- If the particle size of ferrosilicon 75 is too coarse, it may cause slow dissolution, insufficient reaction, and some particles may solidify with the molten steel without reacting completely, forming inclusions or undissolved particles, which will affect the purity of the steel. In addition, coarse particles sink quickly and may accumulate at the bottom of the ladle, reducing utilization.
Effect on the uniformity of inoculation results
In cast iron inoculation treatment, FeSi 75 must be uniformly dispersed in the molten iron to promote graphite refinement or spheroidization.
- FeSi 75 with an appropriate particle size can dissolve quickly while also distributing uniformly in the molten iron. This avoids local concentrations that are too high or too low, ensuring uniform inoculation results and reducing segregation in the cast iron structure.
- Powdered products with excessively fine particle sizes are easily adsorbed by slag on the iron water surface or float on the liquid surface due to buoyancy, making it difficult for them to enter the iron water interior. This results in waste of inoculant and uneven effects. Additionally, fine particles may generate dust during addition, affecting the operational environment.
- FeSi 75 with excessively coarse particle sizes dissolve slowly and may not fully react before iron water solidification, leading to reduced mechanical properties of cast iron.
Affects operational convenience and loss
- During transportation and storage, powdered ferrosilicon is prone to dust, caking, or loss (such as leakage through gaps in packaging bags), which increases material loss and handling costs, and may also affect the working environment.
- Ferrosilicon with moderate or coarse particle size has good particle flowability, is not prone to caking, and is convenient for mechanized transportation (such as belt conveying and silo storage) and automated feeding, reducing the intensity of manual operation.
