• Deoxidiser: When making steel, ferrosilicon has a strong ability to combine with oxygen, which can effectively remove the oxygen in the steel, avoid the formation of inclusions when the steel solidifies, and enhance the purity and quality of the steel.
• Alloy additives: As an alloying element added to steel, it can improve the steel's strength, hardness, wear resistance and magnetic permeability, such as the production of silicon steel sheet used in transformer cores.
• Inoculant: It can also be used in the production of cast iron to promote the graphitization process, refine the graphite particles, improve the mechanical properties of cast iron such as toughness, strength, and reduce casting shrinkage, cracks and other defects.
• Reducing agent: In ferroalloy smelting, ferrosilicon can reduce molybdenum, tungsten, vanadium and other metal oxides for the preparation of special alloys.
• Alloy raw material: It can be used as raw material for producing other ferroalloys and adjusting alloy composition.
• Organosilicon raw materials: ferrosilicon can also be used to prepare organosilicon compounds such as silane, silicone oil, silicone rubber, etc., which are widely used in sealants, lubricants, insulating materials, and medical products.
• Refractory additives: To enhance the high temperature resistance and oxidation resistance of refractory materials, used in blast furnaces, kilns and other high temperature equipment.
