Precautions When Purchasing Ferrosilicon
- Silicon Content: Common ferrosilicon grades include FeSi15, FeSi45, FeSi75, and FeSi90. The appropriate grade should be selected based on specific process requirements.
- Form: Ferrosilicon is typically in lump or granular form. It should be free from excessive powder, caking, or moisture.
- Appearance: High-quality ferrosilicon has a silver-gray surface with a dense, pore-free, and slag-free fracture. A darkened color or signs of rust may indicate improper storage or oxidation.
- Manufacturer Capability: If custom specifications are needed, confirm whether the supplier offers services such as particle size processing or customized packaging-for example, crushing ferrosilicon into 10–50 mm pieces or producing powder. Additionally, inquire about after-sales support, such as return/exchange policies and technical assistance.
