Silico manganese alloys are important alloy materials in the field of steel and non-ferrous metal smelting. The content of manganese in silicomanganese is generally between 40 and 50 per cent of manganese and between 15 and 30 per cent of silicon. It has the advantages of high hardness, high melting point and good heat resistance. It effectively removes oxygen from steel and improves the quality and properties of steel. By adding an appropriate amount of silicomanganese alloy, the strength, hardness and toughness of steel can be significantly enhanced, while improving its wear and corrosion resistance. Besides the steel industry, it can also be used in the foundry industry. It can improve the organisational structure of castings and enhance the mechanical properties of castings. Silicomanganese is a widely used alloy material.

Silico Manganese Uses

 

 Steel industry

It can be used as a compound deoxidiser. The manganese and silicon in the silicomanganese alloy combine with the oxygen in the steel to generate low melting point oxides, which effectively removes impurities from the steel and enhances the purity of the steel. It can also be used as an alloy additive, where the main function is to strengthen mechanical properties and improve thermal stability. This can increase the hardness of steel by about 20 per cent. The high hardness of the steel is suitable for gears, bearings and other highly loaded components. Manganese and silicon work synergistically to form an antioxidant protective layer, which makes the steel adaptable to high-temperature environments, such as generator sets and high-temperature reactors.

 Foundry industry

This product improves the machinability and vibration resistance of cast iron, which is used in automotive engine blocks and machine tool castings. It improves productivity and quality in aluminium alloy casting.

 Power industry

It can be used in core materials for power transformers to enhance electromagnetic performance.

 Metal smelting

This product can be used as a reducing agent for medium and low carbon ferromanganese and manganese metal to support the production of special alloys.
