Ferroalloys (English Ferroalloys), the broad sense of ferroalloys refers to steelmaking as a deoxidizer, elemental additives, etc., added to the hot metal to make the steel with certain characteristics or meet certain requirements of a product. An intermediate alloy of iron with one or more elements, used chiefly in iron and steel smelting. In the iron and steel industry, all intermediate alloys used in steelmaking, whether they contain iron or not (such as silicon calcium alloys), are called "ferroalloys". It is also customary to include certain pure metal additives and oxide additives. The main element of ferroalloy is generally higher melting point, or its oxide is difficult to reduce, difficult to refine pure metal, if it is easier to reduce smelting with iron. The use of iron alloy in iron and steel smelting, which contains iron is not only harmless, but also more advantageous because it is easily melted in molten steel. Therefore, the deoxidation and addition of alloys in the process of steelmaking are mostly added in the form of iron alloys. Ferroalloys are generally brittle and cannot be used as metal materials.
Ferroalloy as an important raw material of iron and steel industry, its production and consumption are closely related to the development of iron and steel industry. At present, China's ferroalloy industry is experiencing profound changes. Current characteristics:
1.The problem of overcapacity is prominent: in recent years, with the rapid expansion of ferroalloy production capacity, the contradiction of oversupply in the market has become increasingly prominent. Some enterprises are facing difficulties such as insufficient construction and overstocking.
2.Industry concentration needs to be improved: There are many enterprises in China's ferroalloy industry, but the scale is small and the technical level is uneven. The lack of large enterprise groups with international competitiveness, and the overall bargaining power of the industry is weak.
3.The pressure on environmental protection continues to increase: the waste gas, waste water and waste residue generated in the production process of ferroalloy have a certain impact on the environment. With the tightening of the national environmental protection policy, the ferroalloy industry is facing increasing pressure on environmental protection.
4.The price of raw materials fluctuates greatly: the main raw materials required for ferroalloy production, such as iron ore and coke, fluctuate greatly, which has a certain impact on the production cost and profitability of enterprises.
